The public doesn't want it.

It always helps to have data when one asserts "the public" this or that. We don't know whether they want this one or not. We do know a great many folk go without health insurance, that they need such, and evaluate candidates on that basis. How many, how well read, etc. Not knowable right now.

But if Krugman is right, it's certainly clear which plan does more to improve health insurance for the uninsured. Not even close.

The public doesn't want it.

The public will love universal socialized medicine when it arrives in the US before the decade ends (my estimate), just like it loves socialized medicine for seniors (aka Medicare.) And just like it loves it in all other industrialized countries, where once socialized medicine is established it becomes untouchable by both left and right.
