Their businesses went untouched because they stood guard with pistols outside their stores.

I watched it live. They were on the roofs with rifles. They had bought the stores from the Chinese who were burnt out in the 65 riots. Which I also watched. I used to call on the stores for P&G. The only local stores that made it though that time were Paul Kodimer's ABC markets chain. Paul hired every security guy he could lay his hands on to stand guard.

The Koreans knew from that experience what they needed to do.
