Isn't the main benefit of the RAC - is that it is accomplished by multiple inexpensive PCs vs high end mainframes. This type of inexpensive network must have huge appeal to the small er/ midsized companies who don't want to make huge IT investments in a slowly recovering economy. I think Oracl is on the verge of being a power in the smaller sized companies - thus their need to get the Mergers accomplished before their dominance is increased and/or better understood. JMHO Bob
