A strong military can promote hubris and war, as we see from the Bush crowd, NOT increased security. As for the %of GNP that are defense expenditures, do we really know the number with any accuracy? Also, not finished with the first of the members of the Evil Axis, the US must expand its expenditures to take care of the other two as well as new enemies such as Syria. How about military assistance to "friends"? And if Afghanistan continues to be neglected there will then be more military expenditures required there. I keep my investments outside of the US. Our QCOM enthusiast from down under freqiently asserts that generation after generation the genes for intelligence are more and more abundant. Would it were so.
