While you contemplate your answer, consider this: War is a very costly effort for all sides. Hate by itself is not sufficient reason for anyone to wage war. You can see this better in nature, where even the fiercest preditors do not just run around rampant using their fangs and venoms.

Actually, their belief seems to be that we are "over there" trying to destroy them and their way of life -- viewed from that vantage point, they are acting in self-defense.
