If the two men or two women believe its a marriage, why is it not a marriage? And what does it matter to you? You and your wife's marriage is not hurt by their belief. So what's the big deal?

Why is it necessary for the government to recognize that kind of "marriage"?

"That kind of marriage"? You make it sound like a disease. lol.

Because gays want the same legitimacy as straights. Why did women want the right to vote? Why did blacks want to seat at the front of the bus? No one wants to be less legitimate.

The whole point of marriage as an institution is to provide a stable place to raise children.

And some gays are raising children. Should only those be allowed to marry and the others not?

Why are gay people not satisfied to have whatever ceremony they want, give each other power of attorney, put them in the will, and you're done.

Because there are certain tangible [read financial] and intangible benefits that accrue to being married. But don't ask me, ask one of your gay relatives........we all have at least one. ;~)

IMO they (not all gay people are activist on this) are pushing it as an issue, not because of what they are claiming they don't have, but just to break down yet another barrier to gay "acceptance". A trojan horse if you will.

That's easy for you to say........you're straight! What's that thing about not judging someone until you walked in their shoes.
