And what is politically feasible is what is in our national self interest (or what is perceived to be)- that's not humanitarian (except perhaps incidentally or accidentally).

I completely disagree with you about Bush and Africa, but it would be silly to go into it. We're not going to solve anything here, and my guess is nothing is going to get solved in Washington either. Same old same old
