What would you have the Canadian gov't do? Enslave doctors so they can't leave for better opportunities?

No, they wouldn't do that to doctors, or actors, or software engineers, or just about any profession. The US is a draw of talent not only from the medical profession in Canada, but from all sectors. It's been called the brain drain...from Canada to the US.

But it is not a function of whether the Canadian health care system has failed that causes doctors and other professions to come to the US. For that matter non professionals come to the US seeking a better opportunity in America, not only from Canada...but from the rest of the world. The reason for the influx is simply there is more money in the United States.

Doctors can't make that much money in Canada, because the people don't have that much money. And so doctors and others from around the world come to America in hopes of becoming rich.

My doctor was one of those Canadian doctors who fled the utopia of socialized healthcare in Canada.

Unfortunately, he ran into problems getting malpractice insurance and had to return to Alberta.

Go figure.
