Much worse and more pervasive than the Patriot Act.

I am yet to see someone post actual data with names etc. of a person(s) who was put in jail and kept there unfairly because of the Patriot Act.

Polical correctness, and the legislation and court decisions flowing from it, are probably today's biggest threat to free speech and civil liberties. Much worse and more pervasive than the Patriot Act.

Political correctness? Can you be more specific? That seems such a general concept. One hundred years ago slavery was politically correct, 50 years ago lynchings were still in style. Today purging black voters off the rolls because they might be felons is politically correct.

But heck at least we're making progress. As for the legislative and judicial processes they do not exist in a vacuum. We have checks and balances. Executive veto, judicial review and the right to appeal are all needed in a nation of laws.

I know a dictatorship would be "easier", but it's so much messier.

Speaking of political correctness and free speech, Canada seems to come up a little short.
