Because the Left has consistently, for the last 30 years, supported and engaged in a policy of "dumbing down", not only for students, but for teachers. Today, public schools are horrendous. The kids who excell are those who are driven. The rest are allowed to languish through the school without motivation or accomplishment.

It isn't the kid's fault; it isn't the government's fault; it isn't the financier's faults. It is the fault of the Left, supported by the teacher's unions, whose biggest fear is that they will some day be tested for competency.
