>My wife put it this way: If Albert Einstein is the best (secular) humanity has to offer, then we're in serious trouble.

How does that statement make sense? Albert Einstein was a pretty smart dude...

That's because humankind sucks. Even though Einstein was smart, he was still a POS next to a God. Its this version of Christianity that's so confusing; we are made in His likeness but we are still POS.

And then there's JC. Assuming he existed at all, who he was and what he preached depends on who is telling the story. I find it disturbing that we so reliant on the interpretations of the ancients when they could barely read and write.

But the most bedeviling for me is the notion we need a savior to move on to the next world. Forget how that has been twisted and contrived to insure the ongoing faith of millions, maybe billions. Forget that it leads to a knee jerk reaction......"I am born again for I take JC as my savior". Its the need for a savior that pretty much eliminates the chance of billions to get to see their maker.......assuming there is one. Its this exclusionary attitude that I think is the main cause for the many sins of Christianity, the practiced religion, as opposed to the philosophy of Jesus.

Of course, without a practiced religion as a guide, its hard to know what to think or what to believe. And so, if you believe in God, its probably easiest to go to a church or a synagogue or a mosque as opposed to striking out on your own.

Z, Albert Einstein was a pretty smart dude...

And yet he scratched only the surface, including the means for humankind to obliterate itself several times over.
