No, its not. I don't think in the two years of disputing with you that I have ever been so disappointed with your response.

Well, I've laid out my argument and you say you are disappointed. Before we leave it at that, let me review the bidding once more.

The "facts" everyone is using right now were written by the Senate committee staff. Since the Senate is organized by the Reps, the staff is dominated by the Reps. In the portion having to do with Wilson, he disputes them, the Senate Dems on the committee refused to sign it, and Marshall disputes it. The right wing, in its weekly meetings, has divided up the labors of presenting the "facts" such that it was now Safire's turn today. A hit a day keeps the "facts" clear.

Finally, the newspapers. The respectable ones are waiting to see what happens. Your version of this is that they are embarrassed. Who knows. The Schmitt WaPo article fits with her MO; the ombudsmen and Marshall are at a draw in my mind.

This entire issue is hugely politicized. Best I can tell it's difficult for folk at the distance we are to assess "the facts".

To drop off this bit of calm, however, there is little doubt in my mind that the folk at the right wing weekly meetings are delighted to have something, anything to talk about rather than the Iraq mess or the fiscal mess or the regulatory mess.

Now if I could only find some way not to talk about Kerry's deficencies as a campaigner. Imus has a rebroadcast this morning of an interview he did with Kerry and Edwards. Both talked. It's very clear who knows how to do interviews. You would think, after all these years, Kerry would know how.
