I have a lot of academic friends as well as... I would also point out the fact carranza2, that many of the academic types you're talking about, are the very ones who brainwash many youngsters coming out of the collegiate pipeline. Insulated in the womb of tenure, they take these kids and drown them in their liberal viewpoints. No wonder it takes some of them so long to grow up. :-)

I have a lot of academic friends as well as, obviously, a lot of lawyer friends. Same here though I suspect the proportions are reversed. My academic friends are a very mixed bunch; some are closed minded conservatives; some are closed minded liberal lefties; and some are curious, open minded, and critical. My lawyer friends are a very mixed bunch; some are closed minded conservatives; some are closed minded liberal lefties; and some are curious, open minded, and critical. Perhaps you get the point.
