I like Ron Paul, but he's being a bit disingenuous here. The money is not to help the country's in question. It is to bribe them to deal with US corporations.

Wow, we could reduce the deficit by up to .5% if we stopped that $2.5 billion giveaway - not .5% of GDP, just .5% of the deficit itself.

This is the Washington shell game - distract people with pennies while you shovel bags full of high-denomination bills out the back door. Make sure your penny stories have lots of hype and emotional appeal and it works like a charm.

Doesn't do diddly to address the real fiscal issues, but that's not the point. Not at all.
