I am getting out my white gloves and Southern Belle straw hat, and honing my Virginia drawl. I am actually very ambivalent about this. CW is best man at his high school best friend's wedding next weekend and we have known both Matt and Ashley for years. I'm not sure I am ready to be mother of the best man. While everyone else weeps as Ashley floats down the aisle, I will be the one belatedly breaking into loud sobs as CW hands over the ring with moving savoir faire. Cw is stressed over the huge responsibilities of a best man that lie on his shoulders. He wants to give a witty, urbane toast at the rehearsal dinner and I can tell he is modeling himself after Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral. The English accent is giving him away. It is a wild week here. He and Matt both have been offered jobs at a Dallas hedge fund and CW and Ammo enroute from Houston with a U-Haul of all CW's earthly possessions, which as far as I can tell are several 19" monitors, 6 guitars, and a mattress and box springs, all to be stored here until we can get him into his new loft apt downtown. Meanwhile, we are having the entire house re-carpeted and let me tell you, it is not fun, and thank God I believe I am old enough to not have to do this again. I was so mad this morning when the movers I had to hire to move the grand piano and the large screen tv came and casually pushed the tv 20 feet from the den to the sunroom. The damn thing had wheels. I had no idea. I could have done it myself while sipping my first cup of coffee. The piano was a little more work, and had I known they were going to leave the legs on and just push it to the sunroom, I would have started drinking heavily on waking. I kept saying inane things which always is so embarrassing. Things like, "That piano is my child!" In a bit, I have to disconnect and move all my computer stuff. The tv is gone, the computer, the stereo. All I have left is the wall monitor and talk radio.
