>I suppose you think religion's ultimate goal is to make us like the Amish.

That wasn't what I meant... but religion has many goals. Some pure, some misled, some bad. But if the story behind the religion isn't true, then why follow it? I'd argue just for the community.

>Your faith in science, of course, is defined by all of the successes science has brought to this world.

It's not faith. I don't have to "believe" science. It just is. If science didn't bring a single new success to the world going forward, I'd still be a pretty happy dude.

>Are we any closer to the meaning of life because of the theory of relativity? Or the discovery of DNA? Or the proliferation of cars and microwaves (which as you know was vehemently opposed by Christians everywhere)?

No... does life have to have a meaning? It is what you make it.

>Your faith in science, of course, is defined by all of the successes science has brought to this world.

>But before you do, I humbly suggest you read the book of Ecclesiastes by the wise Jewish king Solomon, a man who truly experienced everything "under the sun," only to call it "meaningless."

I've read bits and pieces. It doesn't matter. I'm happy. Period. That's what matters.
