> Are you saying that the FF were not for separation of church and state?

Of course, not. However, references to God and even Christ are EVERYWHERE throughout the history of our government.

Originally, there was no reference in the pledge. Why did the GOP insist on inserting in the phrase?

Separation of Church & State does not extend to such insignficant references as is found in the Pledge or on our money. The Founding Fathers believed in God and anyone who is even vaguely familiar with history knows it.

On the contrary, they felt very strongly about not mixing the two. Its only be over the course of our history that some weasels, I mean, some American Christians felt it necessary to intertwine God with the gov't. This, in spite of the fact, we are not all Christians.

Of course, had they listened to Jesus........render unto Caesar that which is his and unto God that which is His......there would be no problem at all.

Obviously, you just started learning history in 2001, too.

If that were true, it certainly would make your life on this thread a whole lot easier.....now wouldn't? ;~)
