"I could care less what "Christian classics of every century taught". I care what the undiluted/unbiased/correctly translated word of God says."

Jesus created his divine Church by his Church and appointed Apostolic leaders and gave them authority. Jesus transmitted this Church authority with the following words:
'upon this rock (the faith of Abraham that was in Peter) I build my Church and the gates of hell will not....against it...whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound and whatever you loose shall be loosed.."

21st century Christians can see this authority clearly in the Scriptures that all denominatin use today. It was this Apostolic authority chosen by Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit--the Catholic and Orthodox bishops were ordained by a line of succession coming from the original Apostles--who in the third and fourth centuries determined the canon (the rule) of scripture that all Christians use today. These are the very Scriptures that you use today (Knoch's NEW novel work is simply a translation from the Scriptures determined by the Church Fathers/Bishops.)
This is one of the central sign posts of Christ's Church.

So when you say you could "care less" about what these Apostolic leaders and Church fathers did some 1600 years ago, you are actually saying that you reject or place no value on the canon of Scriptures.

But wait a minute, didn't you also say that: "I care what the undiluted/unbiased/correctly translated word of God says."

You are all tangled up in your words.

Where did you get the Scriptures and how do you KNOW FOR SURE that they are the inpired Word of God? Because the bshops and Christian Fathers of the 4th century guided by the authority given to them by Jesus DETERMINED IN COUNCIL THAT THESE WERE THE SCRIPTURES. For century after century, the bishops and Church Fathers, guided by the Holy Spirit and the authority given them by Jesus, transmitted the scriptures to our generation. Martin Luther received his scriptures from the Roman and Orhtodox Church. The King James translators received the scriptures from the Orthodox and Catholic Church. Knoch received the scriptures from the Catholic and Orthodox.

So how can you on the one hand trust these Christians Bishops and Fathers of the Church by accepting their canon of Scripture, and on the other hand reject their authority in interpreting those scriptures?

You said:
""Holy saints of the first 1000 years?? This has no meaning to me. Did they write the scripture?"

By the power of Jesus's authority and by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they determined the canon of scriptures--which books were to be admitted to the bible and which were to be rejected. If you can accept their authority in determining the canon, why can you say: ' you can care less'

And since you say that the saints of the first 1000 years have NO meaning to you, can you say that you really belong to the Church that Christ founded? You reject all of the disciples and Apotoles ordained by the original Apostles and their subsequent ordainations? The Church--the Body of Christ (all believers) is a holy organism created by Jesus himself.

Alan - in this I sincerely praise you.

This is to me the first and foremost evidence of salvation.

I wish others would learn this lesson.

You're still nuts - a saved nut - but still a nut.
