I simply am saying that those "people" you are talking about are only men. They have no more authority than Billy Graham or Bennie Henn. The pastors at our local churches are men. Bishops are men. The pope is a man. Every denomination has different creeds and beliefs. Are we to accept all these different beliefs taught by "historic church fathers"? What about the founder of methodism? Baptist doctrine? Church of Christ? I don't subscribe to the doctrines of men.

21st century Christians can see this authority clearly in the Scriptures that all denominatin use today.

Really? Which denomination? Russellism? Episcopalian? Lutheran? All have differing beliefs.

How do you discern which denomination is correct on which doctrine?

Are you saying the line from the apostolic authority is perfect? You're straying far from the truth if you believe that Emile. You're placing your trust in men. I now see what is misleading you. Faith in the church. Faith in men. You're grounded in men and not Christ.

I again repeat I believe in God and not men. Spiritual leaders from 1500 years ago were simply men. Just as there are so called spiritual leaders today.

The canon of scripture is of God and was perfect in their original languages. Translations are not perfect. Whether they be Knoch's or 1611 KJV. You're confusing translations with the originals. My complaint is not with the inspired writers, it's with the keepers of it since they were written.

Put your faith in God Emile, not men.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 tells us to "test everything". Are you saying to test everything against the historic teachings of the church?

Colossians 2:6-8

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

7 rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Dead but Risen with Christ
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

EV, When Peter was in Rome, and was slain, there was no such thing as the Catholic church, and Peter was NOT the first Pope. That is an invention of the minds of the organizers of the Catholic denomination to lend a, false, legitimacy to their efforts.

If you think, for one moment, that a man that wears a dress, a funny hat, and takes the money from a following that is, at least,50% impoverished, and surrounds himself in precious metals, jewels, extremely fine dining, and art work worth millions, if not billions, is closer to God than any other human being that believes in Him, is a fool. For one man, with his minions all over the world, to place himself in the position of the only direct access to God, is blasphemy.
