I don't archive myself, nor do I think it's worth the effort to look for whatever it was I predicted.

You ought to try it. It's sometimes surprising how much you can learn, and how much humility you can gain, by reviewing the certainty with which you maintained a position which turned out to be proven totally unfounded. A review might force one to look at what it was that he actually said as opposed to what he can convince himself he meant after being educated by reality.

With regard to Carl, I wasn't around when Carl evidently predicted there would be no invasion. I suppose that as a Bush supporter he had some misplaced faith in the "wisdom" of the administration and could not conceive that they would make such an obviously dangerous bet with such poor odds of success. He was wrong about the actuality of the invasion, but not about the foolishness of the action and the mess it would create. I'd guess, therefor, that he mis-overestimated the quality of our leadership.
