Thanks for all the help, Glenn. I had missed a few of your earlier posts; nice summary. I repeated the question for statistical information because I am quantitatively inclined, and appreciate quantification of statements to the point that Britain was heavily indebted to the U.S. I hope to find out what constitutes "heavily indebted", and I figured that you might have the data handy, given your level of expertise on the topic.

The stock market data lend insight, but I'm going to continue to hunt for daily or weekly charts of the market interplay in that period.
