In the year 2000, there were 15,517 homocides in the united states. I imagine there were a much higher number of lesser crimes of violence.

If we are going to start profiling people to protect us from crimes of violence, it seems sensible to me to not focus solely on middle easterners, who commit relatively few of those crimes of violence.

It is only fair that we cover the entire spectrum, identify groups based on age/sex/race/ethnicity that are committing more than their share of crimes, and profile them as well.

What's the point in profiling to keep our airplanes safe if you get carjacked on the way to the airport?

Of course most people aren't willing to go there. They prefer to only profile the middle easterners, the vast majority of whom are law abiding citizens, and avoid the poltical incorrectness of holding other groups to a similar standard.

After all, the middle easterners are furriners who hold to a funny religion.
