The British place a high importance on personal character -- lying in the US seems to be more a matter of what you can get away with, at least if our Presidential politics is a valid yardstick. But the British will at some point say "enough" and turn on Blair. I would not be surprised if he resigns in disgrace over the war in Iraq and his conduct. In the US, it will be the same old thing with one party hack after another saying "dear leader did nothing wrong", no matter how much the evidence turns against him.
