AET wrote me a Letter
The American Educational Trust has sponsored a letter to President Bush asking him to be more pro-Palestinian. Go to the AET affiliated Washington Report website. What do you see?
A counter telling us how much U.S. aid Israel has received. A link to the USS Liberty survivors website. Links to articles by Robert Fisk, Charley Reese, former Reps. Pete McCloskey and Paul Findlay. Look at those who have supported the organization (About US) and you see that former Sen Charles Percy and former President Clinton's mentor the late Sen J. William Fullbright were involved with it. Go to the links and there's one for the Islamic Association of Palestine, an organization that is sympathetic to Hamas. Oh and when you check out the letter you'll see that one of the signatories is former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Chas Freeman. Here's an interview of Freeman's with the Saudi-American-Forum. (Freeman apparently doesn't always favor democracies vs. dictatorships as he appears to wish Taiwan to capitulate to China.)
The folks here are hardly dispassionate observers of the Middle East. To call them anti-Israel would be an understatement.
Instapundit is right to ask on whose payroll many of the signers are. Check out what Daniel Pipes has to say about the subject here and here.
UPDATE: LGF has an item on this. Clearly LGF has quite an informed readership as the comments include quite a few links to AET. This one in particular impressed me:

I once worked for a research foundation where I could track the career paths of a lot of policymakers.

By no coincidence at all, the chief toadies among US diplomats to Arab states later went on to:

1. international corporations as Exec VP in charge of sales to Arab countries

2, professor of Middle East studies in chairs subsidized by Arab governments

3. top jobs at US foundations and institutes and think tanks to study Arab affairs -- also subsidized by Arab contributions.

Prince Bandar ibn-Sultan -- Saudi ambassador to US and Colin Powell's tennis partner -- says openly, that US diplomats in the Middle East behave "right" if they know "we will take care of them".

I do wonder, though; will the Princes get their money's worth out of this?

Also this one links to the Daniel Pipes review of Steven Emerson's "The American House of Saud."
UPDATE:Welcome to all of you Instapundit and Media Backspin readers. Thanks to your referrers for sending you my way!
