Berger, who yesterday quit his position as an informal adviser to the Kerry campaign, was appointed by former President Clinton to vet Clinton-administration documents before those documents were turned over to the September 11 investigating commission.

This is like the fox guarding the chicken coop. Why did the investigating commission rely on or allow the former Clinton Secretary of Defense to vet these documents? Why did he have to "vet" them in the first place? Does "vet" mean to pick through and decide what is relevant and what isn't? Is this how they handled all matters relating to their investigation, by relying on former and current individuals within respective administrations to make decisions as to what is or isn't important to the report?

They certainly must have had teams of bipartisan lawyers and others to assemble information for their study.

The more we learn, the less we know.
