Agent Orange was a defoliant, intended to deprive the enemy of cover. It was not a weapon.

A well-reasoned reply. We are armed with weapons that have awesome killing power -- and we have used them to win wars. Our discussion should not avoid issues of weapons and their use -- but when considering our options, we need to look beyond weapons and look at the policies that cause countries to go to war -- conventional wars, terrorist wars and all forms of "unconventional" war. Our policy in Vietnam was deeply flawed, and the deaths we caused should give all of us pause to ask how it is we could have killed so many to gain little or nothing. We should ask -- how did we get it so wrong? We should ask the same about Iraq.
