Only 3 alternatives that I see:

1. Kerry was inept and disconnected from
DC politics if he was truly blindsided by this
and had no clue;

2. He had a "don't ask, don't tell" policy,
which is generally not a good idea;
or

3. He did know and is just lying about it.

LOL!! Yes, "Clueless." I like that one even better than "Frankenkerry."

Incidentally, Clueless's side-stepping of Brokaw's "Yes" or "No" question doesn't mean that Berger didn't just come right out and tell Clueless the truth, as opposed to merely giving him a clue and letting him figure it out.
