But here's one other fact that has been repeated multiple times in multiple places.. 50% of Saudi Arabia is under 18 years of age. Now if you can sit there and tell us that is not a cause for concern, or a fertile breeding ground for militant extremism (as well as western values should they be permitted to influence them), then the discussion is obviously in vain.

Massive demographic changes in both East and West are of great concern. A young population means change. But change can be for the better or for the worse. There is an opportunity to direct this change for the better, but I just don't see the current US policy conceiving such out of the box thinking.

Even here in the US, where demographics are not as bad as Japan or Europe, whites will be a minority within a decade. As you look at the age distribution around the world (and by all means do take a look; it is an eye opener) who do you think will replace the retiring population? As it has always been, the young shall replace the old. And the young in this case are not in the West. So either we'll figure out a way to make peace and direct the change for the better, or the future will be darker than you think even if we hold AQ off.
