You're right about Slate (Stale) but sometimes a good piece slips through the net somehow. I was surprised at what a good job he did of exposing the fantasies that these psuedo scientific plans are based on, particularly in the 2nd and 3rd parts. He may be untrustworthy but he's no idiot. Of course these plans can't very well tell the truth (assuming they know what that is in the first place) that they or anybody else doesn't have a clue about what's going to happen in the next 2-3 years but it doesn't look good for US large cap stocks. As for long term returns this will be fairly accurate I think: gmo.com
