What makes you so sure that Berger will be crucified?

I doubt that Berger will be crucified or prosecuted for that matter. The Justice Dept or FBI has already said that they don't expect prosecution.

Do you think what he did was wrong?

No question. It's a clear violation of the law and personal judgement.

Do you think partisan politics are in play (Of course you do, that's the essence of what this thread has become)?

Sure it is. There are many violations of the federal law that occur every year and only very, very rarely are there any prosecutions or criminal investigations. I'll admit that I was caught inadvertently removing a document that was marked classified once...I never even got a memo...they took it away, returned it to the office and the whole thing was forgotten.

Here's a story that I posted on another thread the other day, that I don't think has any political component.

washingtonpost.com

These weanies at Los Alamos perhaps have the worst security record in the world that's been going on for decades. Pumping classified out over internet e-mail, lost documents, and storage devices for decades. By and large all these people have gotten is the occasional memo.

A Congressional staffer on one of the Intelligence committees once told me that there was one person that stood out above everyone else for leaking classified material to the Press, Richard Perle. Congress never got involved, leaving it to the prerogative of the Administration to deal with. [over multiple Administrations].
