I believe it would substantially improve AMD as a business and as an investment if they could sell, or spin off, or otherwise dispose of the flash business. Memory is a commodity and nobody seems to get a good sustainable return on it.

If AMD could get enough to make a substantial dent in their long term debt it might be worth it. They have some very large debt payments coming up and the profits aren't there yet to pay the tab. Might be a good move. Less spent on R&D too.
