no it's not

it's a fundamental truth

and yes alliances can move according to the winds of changing dynamics of power

but the problem you point out is that of "sleeping with the enemy"

and indeed blowback will occur from that

our great error was sleeping with the enemy in the name of expedience

we should never to that again

because the battle is over ideology

freedom vs. fascism

the line must be drawn in the sand
