I agree, President Bush was very clear that he would go where ever was necessary to fight terrorism.

And, while I agree that our war on and occupation of Iraq is the stuff of partisan bullshit in this election cycle, it is not all bullshit. Just because it is a Dem talking point doesn't make it untrue.

I can only speak for myself and those close to me, but around here I remember before the war when the President was making his demands to Saddam, the discussion in my neighborhood was along the lines of: Why are we going to invade Iraq when there is no imminent threat against us, when we still haven't caught OBL or all of the Taliban leaders yet, and when it looks like North Korea is about to become the next Cuban Missle Crisis.

I don't really know what an act of terrorism would do to the elections, but I wouldn't be so sure it would insure a Kerry victory. In times of real crisis, people tend to shut up and support our leaders. I kept my mouth shut through most of the Iraq war, from the day we invaded until very recently, feeling that I owed it to our troops. If we were attacked now, and President Bush was called on to make some tough calls, I would stand by him through the crisis.
