Many investors embraced stock mutual funds last month after staying away in droves during May.

According to a new estimate by Lipper Inc., investors pumped $18.8 billion into stock mutual funds in June. That compares with $564 million that flowed into stock funds in May, according to Investment Company Institute data.

And the enthusiasm appears to be holding during July, according to several leading mutual-fund firms. [snip]
