From the day of its first release, there has been an intentional shroud placed over this acro Fiso. I speculated that it might stand for FIber optic OutSide plant. Its akin to David Isenberg's birds-of-a-feather meeting that he dubbed "WTF," and then created a contest during the actual meeting to see who could guess what it stood for. [I can see your eyes rolling all the way from Brooklyn.] Of course, the answer to WTF might be viewed as an obvious one, but the goal I suspect was simply to add a touch of Madison Avenue schtick to the registration form. Hey! I'm talking about it, so I guess it was effective.
