I like the Russell Crowe philosophy: "I owe you a good performance, but I don't owe you ... "

...and here I would place, since I can't remember exactly what he said,

1) Political opinions
2) Pet charities
3) Lewd behavior ala Whoopie
4) ETC.

It's not that I agree or disagree, but that I want to enjoy the performance. Now I can't enjoy Neil Diamond, Peter Paul and Mary, any number of my old favorites. Sure I knew "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" was a Viet Nam war protest song, but I didn't care. It was a great song and I sang it myself around the campfire many times. Now I can't stand it because PP&M mouthed off about Bush.

Just give me the performance and keep your mouth shut.

Good for them. Entertainers should respect their customers instead of speaking out at performances.
