Bombshell About to Blow?

Okay, here is what I have been cleared to say about the Berger mess. Again, it comes from someone who is involved with the government in national security matters, and this person gets it from a third party, so take it for what it's worth.

But I was right last time, so think before you assume.

It's too bad I'm getting this on a Friday afternoon, the time of week the Clintons always chose to release bad news they wanted to bury.

Here are some quotes:

"...[o]ne (maybe two) of the documents that was taken is very serious and a major problem . . .I asked if it was going to be in the news . . . no one seems really sure due to the highly sensitive nature of what is still missing—but it could leak, knowing how things seem to do that so much these days. There are several missing documents that had no copies, however there was a record of what the document(s) were and what they were about . . . still doubts that Berger ever will get his just deserts because it is an election year and it will look too much like revenge from either side.
Here's some more:

The 9/11 panel did not get all of the documents that Berger had taken and [ultimate source] tells me that there will be some sort of hell to pay for that. Apparently, the only reason some of the documents were removed by Berger was to make sure they were not “reviewed in their proper context with other documents” by the panel. Pretty slick, eh?
And here's the end of it:

It is also true that most of the leaks, including the release that there was an investigation, are coming from the Berger camp or from Democrats—not the Republicans, to whom all of this was being attributed. That was not conjecture or something that is being made up. Remember earlier I told you about the “spin” that would be taking place in order to bring in damage control? This is most likely a part of that. Becoming so political right now will make this a pariah for most in the Republican Party.

Anything that is said about or done to Berger will look like “Republican Witch Hunt” to the media and the general public. Already the fact that these documents were classified and were highly sensitive is being glossed over. By releasing the fact that there was an investigation, Berger takes a public hit, but soon is able to look the victim. Harsh sentencing or penalties are avoided because the subject has now been made completely partisan. Either way now, Berger wins.

That's all I have.
