The Iraqi resistance is no emerging "marriage of convenience," but rather a product of years of planning. Rather than being absorbed by a larger Islamist movement, Saddam's former lieutenants are calling the shots in Iraq, having co-opted the Islamic fundamentalists years ago, with or without their knowledge.

Just yesterday, the "secular" Saddam would have nothing to do with Al Qaeda. Now, Ritter says he's been an Islamist for ten years. Ten Years?!

There is no question that Ritter was on Saddam's payroll. That's been proven. The only question in my mind, is he still on Saddam's payroll? I would guess this article is conclusive. Who else is trying to prove that the Ba'athists are still in charge?

Thanks to his meticulous planning and foresight, Saddam's lieutenants are now running the Iraqi resistance, including the Islamist groups

Yah right. "meticulous planning and foresight". Saddam's fan club is small these days, but Ritter is in it. Ritter is working for the enemy in a time of war.

<<< Saddam's people are winning the war By Scott Ritter

Misunderstanding Iraq >>>>

Of course we dont understand Iraq, we are not Iraqis

This could just as well be labeled " Understanding Iraq",
because thats what we are trying to do. And Scott is the only one who does understand so am sure he will tell us.

<<< The battle for Iraq's sovereign future is a battle for the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.>>>

He speaks as tho this is our battle, yet I have heard no words from the Administration that winning hearts and minds is on our agenda.

It is too much to hope for that the Republican guard and Saddams dismissed soldiers are going to lead any welcoming parades for the new rulers. Or to bless us for helping to install them.

We want a stable predictable Iraqi government elected by the Iraqis peoples vote.

<<<it appears that victory will go to the side most in tune with the reality of the Iraqi society of today: the leaders of the anti-U.S. resistance.>>>

There is no victory involved, the various Iraqi tribes are supposed to fight it out at the polls instead of with guns and poison gases, to determine who will lead.

Our major goal will be achieved the day the new Government is installed regardless of who wins.

But Scott is a dangerous writer(g)
