Community in the new land is not the same as community in the real, here there is no physical presence to hinder imagination, the data that normally provides the foundation that perception rests on is missing, no bodies, no voices. In spite of this missing foundation we do perceive this land and the missing material is provided, the source for the foundation material is inside ourselves. The first message that connects with a reader starts the process of building an internal view of the writer, this process is immediate. This internal view that we build, based upon just a few external messages, is really a presentation of our own internal data structures, our life experiences, our background. Our "self" provides the data we use to fashion our views of other "selves". We communicate our relationship to this land and those within through this unavoidable presentation of our internal data, it happens when just a few short messages make the traverse from node to node. I know a lot of people are connected to this land in a lot of different ways. The tendrils of our world run into every major corporation and every level of society. Our members come from all over this globe, we all share one trait, we are members of this community and we choose this membership. We opt to "be" members of this world and our view of our place in this land, indeed our view of this land, is reflected in our structure as clearly as the sun lights the day. Tim Luke had an agenda that was largely in symphony with the basic structure of our world. Tim amassed a large following because good, bad or ugly, he epitomized that basic tenet of this land - we are investors, this background music is often overlooked by individuals and groups but never by the community.
