That distinction might do for a number of cultural/artistic issues, but it is a total cop-out when applied to the NYT's ham-fisted political coverage.

That's why I'm waiting to see what Brooks comes up with. I don't read the Times regularly so I don't have a clear impression other than what I already commented nor do I have the tools or the inclination to do my own analysis. There are plenty of examples posted here of bias, some of them actually legitimate <g>, but they are just examples. We have no balance. We don't know the proportion or types of news stories that have that bias other than the social issues. I am hopeful that Brooks has the wherewithal to deal with large quantities of data over time.

Like I said earlier, I will wait and see what he comes up with regarding "politics and policies."
