I worked for three years in Lyndon Johnson's Presidential Library. Vietnam is a small exhibit there, minimized on purpose. I'm sure Watergate is a small exhibit at Nixon's Library. But for Vietnam, LBJ might be considered a great President today. He continued Kennedy's space program and made it a wild success. He bravely passed historic civil rights legislation, and in doing so lost the Democrats the "solid south". But he had Vietnam - he couldn't win, and he couldn't get out. His advisors kept telling him to send more troops. It became a quagmire. He said he "wasn't going to be the first President to lose a war". His hubris brought him down. Just like today.
