I backed it up already...if you're Latino it's 60%, Black it's 48%. Poor people cannot afford Health care.

God Bless America.

Sorry, Laz, but I don't want my third-grader taught by someone with only a high school diploma, even if they WERE in the top half of their class. And if we pay first grade teachers minimum wage, as you suggest, we won't even be able to hire high school STUDENTS, much less graduates. You'll be left with teachers too dumb to get a job flipping burgers, which, BTW, pays more and is a helluva lot less work. There are lots of shortcomings in our education system, but to suggest that hiring overqualified teachers and paying them too much are among them is just plain stupid. Sorry to be so blunt. We usually agree on the issues, but you are SOOOO wrong on this one.

This is a classic: Let it stand alone...no explanation needed:

<When you have a position that is historically a low paid job, you're not going to get the most qualified folks for those jobs.>

I'll let you in on a little secret: I don't think it takes a genius to teach third grade. In fact, I think any high school grad in the upper half of the class could do it easily with a little expewrience. Claiming it takes a BS or BA to teach elementary school is one of the biggest con jobs pulled on this country.

Mow make them realistic. A HS physics teacher is going to be expensive. A first grade teacher is going to be minimum wage.

Mow? As in mow the grass? Or are you speaking in Ebonics?

Amazing that you think that the quality of teachers will have no impact on one's education. Frame this against your other conservative arguments and you start to look like Bush with his un-funded no child left behind program. Besides Bush doesn't read...and lookie...he's the President! That proves that education hardly even counts.

Course all those minimum wage 1st grade teachers won't be able to afford health insurance either.

The world according to Laz is a strange world indeed.
