I've always thought that having a foundry build your most profitable product is asking for trouble. If they make anything, they should make K8 Sempron chips.

The resulting defect densities for a large die (Pentium 4 size of 146mm2 is assumed) are approximately 0.2 to 0.3 for the IDMs and 1 to 2 for the foundries.

What this means is that yields stink at foundries and die cost will soar. You might try and stick those defect densities into the yield model and see how bad things become.
