The idea of the United States as a crypto- fascist state dominating the world trading system for corporate interests is ludicrous. The more integrated into the world trading system a country is, the more prosperous it is. Neocolonialist exploitation is not the reason for global poverty, defective governments and economic systems are. Time after time, countries are discovering that marketization and globalization are the way to go. The most prosperous Asian countries are the ones that are the most integrated into the international trading system. The most prosperous former Eastern bloc countries have done the best job of marketizing their economies. If they were pawns in our game, such integration would be deleterious.
