THE 2004 presidential campaign pits a pair of lawyers -- a prosecutor and a litigator -- against a pair of oil men. That may seem like a race for last place to many voters. But today in Boston the two lawyers begin their opening arguments before a jury of 100 million voting Americans. We hope the nation listens carefully to their case for change.

If anyone wanted to know how the voters of Massachusetts feel about their guy Kerry, you just had to turn on the Red Sox - Yankees game last night. 90% of the crowd booed loudly when Kerry took the mound to throw out the first pitch.
