Genuine affection is not a criteria. This was proven during Clinton's Monica Lewinsky affair. I am sure that people would not want to trust their daughter with Clinton but surely they would trust the country with Clinton. People did not approve of what he did in his private life but still they wanted him as their President.

So in November we are electing a President based on their past record and exercise of shouldering responsibility when they were called upon to do so. Kerry by far answered the call of his country when it came. And he had the foresight to say that Vietnam was wrong much before the majority of the country thought so. And he protested within the law. That is important to me when I cast my vote for this country.

Kerry worked "within the law". He did not dodge the draft. He exercised his right to protest. He served to uphold the law as a prosecutor and the so on. He has earned the right to be President in this nation of laws.
