The point doesn't change: women get worse treatnment in fundamentalist societies (invariably male dominated) than they do in free societies, despite the tendency of free societies to celebrate and sell sexuality in ways that fundamentalist moralists find offensive.


Your terms are so anachronistic as to be meaningless in this context. Europe in the midst of the Wars of Religion could easily claim to be more "fundamentalist" than the polyglot Ottoman Empire. Conversely, few people can out-fundamentalist ultra-Orthodox Jews, yet they have traditionally treated their women with far more respect than is normal among even many secular Arabs. There is no such straightforward relationship.
