I don't think he was reacting cowardly. I think he was thinking about the political repercussions of the ties his family has with Saudis and how that would play out.

He certainly wasn't trying to find out more about what was happening.

Of course I didn't need to since I predicted we would be attacked.

Bush admitted as much himself in an interview with the German media.

"I was concerned about things like, is my wife safe? You know, I was worried about that. I was worried about things such as my parents. I was worried about my [twin] girls....I mean, I was trying to get out of harm's way."

Don't you think Giuliani, Rumsfeld, and the NY firefighters had family to worry about too? Luckily for America they weren't trying to get out of harm's way.
