The way they interpreted the law was that the guy said somebody was stealing his truck. O.K., except he'd had several nasty letters and phone calls telling him he had to pay and the car would be repossessed. He was sneaky and hard to find during the day, but he had to sleep. My guess is he knew who was trying to drive away his truck.

The Scotsman's story was a bit strange. He met some guys at a bar and they acted strange, so he jumped out of their car in a residential area and hid in the family's back yard. Then he tried to get them to let him in so he could use the phone and call a cab. The family didn't understand English, not that Scotsmen can speak said language correctly <G>, and just knew it was some guy trying to beat their door down. The most surprising part of that story is that they shot through the door and killed him with one round of a .25 caliber. A .25 is weaker than a .22 and only a bit more useful than a bb gun in a firefight.
