Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to lie without consequence.

If freedom of speech doesn't allow for the expression of ideas, opinions and views of facts that others find offensive, or even view as lies, what do you think freedom of speech means? What consequence should be paid by one who creates a "propaganda film full of truths, half truths and falsities?"

Before you answer, consider the propaganda films run as advertisements by Bush and Kerry; especially Bush. Many of the implications about Kerry and his positions as "approved" by Bush are so distorted that they do little to present the truth. In fact I believe they are half truths and falsities and that our soldiers ought to have another point of view to contrast them to.

How about the public pronouncements of Rumsfeld, Cheney and Rice on such things as the progress of the war in Iraq, the makeup of the insurgents and the extent of their support, the certainty of the existence of wmds, the "torture," and many other critically important issues of the day? Did they have the right to speak it? To speak it to our troops who were, and are, relying upon them to do the right things with their very lives?

Nadine you're old enough and wise enough to know that the TRUTH is not best served by silencing those who disagree with you, or even disagree with a huge majority of us. With a very few exceptions, the TRUTH is best served by allowing the expression of every voice with a trust in, and a reliance upon, those whose voices hold contrary views to express themselves in opposition.

Don't pull a Rummy on us and attempt to impugn the names of our soldiers to shut up those whose view of how best to protect America, and to honor our soldiers, are far different from your own.

It's not a black and white world and we shouldn't try to label those who disagree as subversive.

First, it would be nice if you could support your contention that Moore's film is "full of lies". I imagine that you cannot.

Second, you seem to be okay with the troops listening to Rush Limbaugh, who is full of half truths and falsities (when he isn't full of oxycontin).
